Abu Bakr al-Siddiq: Faith Without Hesitation
Ten men were named by the Prophet ﷺ in one hadith and promised Paradise. This is the first of them.
Abu Bakr heard the truth and said yes to it without delay, and then kept saying yes for the rest of his life: in a cave with his enemies a step away, on the road to Madinah, at Tabuk with everything he owned, on the day the Prophet ﷺ died and the whole city lost its footing, and at the head of a community that was coming apart.
This short book walks with him through each of those moments. It is not a biography that tries to record everything. It is a companion, written so that a reader with an ordinary life and an ordinary amount of time can carry the first believer with them for a season and come out different.
Inside the book:
- Seven parts: The Ten and the First of Them, He Believed, He Accompanied, He Was Loved, He Stood When Others Fell, He Returned, and Walking With Him.
- Twenty-four short chapters, each ending with a line to keep.
- Every claim backed by a verse of the Quran, a hadith with its reference, or a named report from the early historians. Quranic verses are given in the Uthmani script of the Madinah Mushaf with the Saheeh International meaning. Hadith follow the standard numbering of Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, Jami at-Tirmidhi and Sunan Abi Dawud, with gradings where a narration is outside the two Sahihs.
- The three du’as Abu Bakr asked the Prophet ﷺ to teach him, for the prayer, for morning and evening, and for the night.
- Seven habits of the Siddiq, each with one small practice you can begin today.
- A forty-day plan for walking with him, and a forty-day grid at the back of the book to mark your progress.
- Book One of The Ten Promised Paradise, a series of ten short companions from Sakeena Press, one for each of the men the Prophet ﷺ named.
