A Cry in the Sky

On a bright morning, the Prophet Mohamed ﷺ and his companions set out to bid farewell to an army leaving Madinah. Suddenly a small bird appears above them, circling and crying out in distress. Her nest has been moved and her chicks are gone.

A Cry in the Sky retells an authentic hadith as a gentle picture book for young readers. Through the story of one frightened mother bird, children see the Prophet’s ﷺ tenderness towards every living creature and learn that mercy extends even to the smallest of Allah’s creation.

The first title in the Stories of Faith series from Sakeena Press, this book draws on verified narrations and is illustrated in warm watercolour throughout. It is ideal for reading aloud at bedtime or in the classroom, and for parents and teachers who want to introduce the character of the Prophet ﷺ in a way children can feel and remember.
