One Little Meow

One sunny day in Medina, Abu Younus steps out of the Prophet’s Mosque and finds his friend Abdul-Rahman ibn Sakhr resting in the shade with a tiny kitten curled up inside his sleeve. Why does the little kitten follow him everywhere? And does the Prophet ﷺ let him keep it?

In this warm and gently paced story, young readers discover how this companion came to be called Abu Hurairah, “Father of the Little Cat,” and learn what the Prophet ﷺ taught about caring for animals. Inspired by authentic narrations, the story shows children that mercy is part of Islam, even toward the smallest and most helpless of Allah’s creatures.
